This is an account of Richard Hughes' experiences as a seaman on board ships to New York, the River Plate, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and along the New Zealand coast. Includes a description of his time between voyages working in the kauri gum fields and on farms around Canterbury. It also mentions (p. 40-41) Burgess, Levy, Kelly and Sullivan, tried for the murder of five men on Maungatapu Mountain in 1866.
