Loss of the Marlborough, letters

Identifier: CCL Archive 0560

Scope and Contents

Carbon copies of typed transcripts of original letters concerning the possible fate of the Marlborough.

The Marlborough left Lyttelton in January 1890, bound for London with a cargo of wool and frozen meat. A passing ship saw her two days out, but she was neither seen nor heard of again, though, as these letters show, there are various accounts of her possible fate.
