Letters sent to Neil Roberts
Content Description
Two handwritten letters, one written by Tony Fomison received 2 October 1985, the other written by Theo Schoon received 26 March 1985, both sent to Neil Roberts, curator at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery in connection with the exhibition 'Maori Rock Drawing: the Theo Schoon interpretations' held at the Gallery 15 August to 29 September 1985. Fomison strongly disagrees with the interpretations of Michael Trotter and Beverley McCulloch, both of Canterbury Museum, while Theo Schoon recalls the Museum Director Roger Duff's miserable treatment of him as a field worker commissioned to record Maori rock drawings.
