Content Description
Cards, letters, artworks and other material created and sent to the Mayor’s Office of Christchurch City Council following the Canterbury Earthquakes to express condolences and show support to the City in 2010-2011.
Many of the items are handwritten letters and cards from school children and community groups from New Zealand, and overseas. Items are variously addressed to City of Christchurch, Civic Defence, or the Mayor, Bob Parker.
Includes a set of condolence books from New Zealand and internationally. Includes those sent from New Zealand Embassies around the world to the Protocol Division of the New Zealand Government and subsequently sent to the Christchurch City Council Mayor's Office.

Formerly part of the Christchurch City Libraries Ephemera Collection, Canterbury Earthquake archive Arch 1041. This material was reassessed following contact from Libraries in October 2023 and as a result was deaccessioned from the Libraries collections and accessioned into the Christchurch City Council Archives.
Accruals
Condolence books were added as an accrual to this series in February 2025.
