Printed and manuscript papers of Cecil Cochrane, largely relating to emigration. Includes passenger list, luggage labels, and various official and personal papers, including a Welcome to New Zealand letter from the Dept. of Labour's Immigration Division.

Also includes one black and white portrait photograph of the crew of the Rangitata and a 1978 postcard from Mr. Cochrane in Belfast to his wife in Christchurch. This postcard is mostly about his mother's bad health.

The letters follow Malthus' progress from training in New Zealand to his experiences throughout the war, including time in Egypt preparing for Gallipoli, and his time in France.
