Biography

The North New Brighton Community Council was formed as the North New Brighton Residents' Association in 1911, with lapses in membership over the years. In about 1983 the Residents' Association changed its name to the above. The North New Brighton War Memorial Community Centre began in about 1959, to maintain and administer the War Memorial Hall in Marine Parade. Its exact relationship with the Residents' Association over the years is uncertain. In 1982 it seemed to regard itself as a sub-committee of the Residents' Association, soon to become the Community Council, but now (2003) called the North New Brighton Residents' Association again.
