Biography
Prior to 2016, the Events team was part of the Public Affairs Group and within that the Marketing Unit. In 2016, the Unit is renamed the Public Information and Programming Unit and becomes part of the newly created Strategy and Transformation Group. As part of this restructure Events becomes part of Customer and Community Group and only one member of staff remained as part of City Promotions.
In 2017, ChristchurchNZ is formed by the merger of Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism (CCT), Canterbury Development Corporation (CDC), International Education, the Convention Bureau and the Christchurch City Council Mayor Events team. City Promotions became part of this new entity as well as some events functions.
In 2021, following a restructure events became part of the Recreation, Sports and Events Unit with the Citizens and Community Group.
