Biography
In 2004, following a restructure Marketing became a new Unit within the Public Affairs Group. The unit includes three sections: City Promotions, Events and Marketing.
City Promotions was responsible for promoting the city as a "great place to live, work, visit, play and do business", work alongside tourist providers to support Christchurch as a tourist destination, organise civic ceremonies and events and manage international relations particularly with relation to Sister Cities.
Events was responsible for the development, management, delivery and evaluation of events and festivals including Summertimes, KidsFest and Showtime Canterbury.
Marketing was responsible for providing marketing support and direction for all units across Christchurch City Council to create campaigns, advertising and promotions.
In 2016, the Unit is renamed the Public Information and Programming Unit and becomes part of the newly created Strategy and Transformation Group. As part of this restructure Events becomes part of Customer and Community Group.

Newsletters created for the staff of Christchurch City Council titled ChCh Chat, from 2006 it was called Chat. Newsletters include information about staff, departments, social activities and other key milestones happening across the Council at that time.
Note that there are some gaps in this sequence. Some of these gaps are a result of editions not being produced due to events such as the 2010-2011 Canterbury Earthquakes. Missing editions are noted under Accruals.
