Christchurch City Council. Recreation and Cultural Committee (1973-1974)

Biography
In 1973 the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Committee was renamed the Recreation and Cultural Committee. It appears as though this was simply a name change and all functions including the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, parks, reserves, cemeteries and recreational facilities remained.
In 1974 this committee was split into the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Cultural Committee. The committees were split due to the increasing workload of the Recreation area, particularly in relation to the management of Queen Elizabeth II Park (QEII).
City library services and the Robert McDougall Art Gallery became part of the newly formed Cultural Committee.
