Christchurch City Council. Finance Committee (1867-1887)
Dates
- Existence: 1867 - 1887
Biography
Discussions relating to the accounts and finance of Christchurch City Council are first referred to as part of smaller committees established from the start of the Council in 1862. The Finance Committee was formally established on 28 January 1867 with the aim of separating out Council functions as the scope of the work increased.
This committee was established at the same time as the Works Committee. Briefly during 1886-1887 some of the meetings appear to have taken place together under the title of Works and Finance Committee although it does not appear they formally merged into a single committee during this time.
