Biography
In 1973 the Works and Services Committee merged with the Airport and Traffic Committee to become the Works and Traffic Committee. This committee continued until the amalgamation of many other local councils into Christchurch City Council in 1989. The committee was then renamed the Operations Committee.The Works and Traffic Committee dealt with: policy matters affecting the City Engineer's Department; construction and maintenance of streets, lanes and bridges; design and architecutural services for all Departments; collection and disposal of garbage (house and trade waste); traffic engineering; traffic enforcement; administration of on-street and off-street parking.
