Biography
In 1973 the Public Utilities Committee is formed from the Development, Finance and Electricity Committee. This saw financial functions becoming part of the Policy and Resources Committee. The Committee was responsible for the trading undertakings of Christchurch Airport, Municipal Electricity Department, Waterworks and the Abattoir.It also had some housing and property functions as well as parking and parking enforcement. In 1983 this becomes the Airport and Electricity Committee. The remaining functions moved to the Works and Traffic Committee.
