Biography
Librarian Margaret Mahy's first stories for children were published in the New Zealand School Journal, from 1961. In 1969 the first of her many very popular books for children were accepted for publication in both Britain and the United States.

This series contains correspondence and other material including interactions between Margaret and her publishers.It provides some documentation regarding the production of her work including such items as manuscripts with editorial comments, papers detailing contractual arrangements etc. The material contained in this series was part of her third acession to the collection, believed to have been in 2006-2008.
