Biography

Arthur Hastings Bridge was the son of Charles and Marion Hastings Bridge, and the grandson of Charles Joseph Bridge and Elizabeth Hastings, early settlers. Arthur Hastings Bridge, who married Catherine Livingstone, trained as a surveyor, working first in Auckland. He returned to Christchurch in 1922, to become a surveyor for the Christchurch City Council. Subsequently he became City Land Surveyor and Town Planning Officer, retiring in 1944.
