Biography

William and Agnes Parr's adult children Mary, William and James arrived in Christchurch in 1858, and in 1859 moved to Timaru. In the next ten years they were joined by their brother Edward and his family, and by their parents William and Agnes with their other daughters, Agnes and Elizabeth.

Scope and Contents

Photocopied, detailed account of the emigration and settlement of William and Agnes Parr and their six sons and daughters in New Zealand, first in Christchurch then ultimately in Timaru, where they set up a mill.

The typescript copy includes maps, photographs, letters, sketches, genealogical tables and an account of the gathering together of all four branches of the family in 1992. There is also a history of the family name and ancestry in England.
