Parr family papers
Scope and Contents
Photocopied, detailed account of the emigration and settlement of William and Agnes Parr and their six sons and daughters in New Zealand, first in Christchurch then ultimately in Timaru, where they set up a mill.
The typescript copy includes maps, photographs, letters, sketches, genealogical tables and an account of the gathering together of all four branches of the family in 1992. There is also a history of the family name and ancestry in England.
Two sons and a daughter, William, James and Mary, came first in 1858, then their
brother Edward in 1865, then their parents and two more sisters in the late 1860’s.
