Biography

After 35 years of nursing, Isabel retired in 1933, which means she started nursing in 1898. She trained at Auckland Hospital and became a Registered Nurse in 1907. She worked at the Government Sanatorium in Rotorua in 1909, did private nursing from 1909 to 1912, was charge nurse at Reefton in 1912, and Matron at Otira from 1912 to 1915.

In Dec. 1915 she left to serve in Cairo and on a hospital ship, returning home in 1918. She was private nursing in Napier in February 1931 at the time of the Napier earthquake and joined the emergency hospital under canvas at Greenmeadows.

This brief account ends in 1951 when she is about to leave for an overseas trip, sailing on the Rangitiki.
