Biography

Helen was born to service station proprietor William Davie Watson and karitane nurse Charlotte Amelia nee Smith at Christchurch. She was a teacher at Avonside Girls', Darieild, Hillmorton High (foundation staff member) and at Christchurch Techers' College. In retirement Helen studied Te Reo Māori and earned her Phd. In 1957 Helen married analytical chemist Denis James Hogan.

Cassettes containing oral histories, predominantly of women connected to Canterbury University. The initial project was set up by the Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Federation of University Women in 1989. Most interviews are conducted by Stancey Yeabsley and were recorded between 1989 - 2009.
