Scope and Contents
Photographs relate to rehabilitation services in New Zealand including rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities as the result of illness or trauma; drug addictions and or criminal histories.
Rehabilitation facilities featured in the images include Christchurch's Huntsbury Home; Odyssey House; the Work Adjustment Centre of the Rehabilitation League; the Salisbury Street Foundation; the Living Waters trust; and the Mt Grey Downs centre north of Christchurch. Featured also is the Hamilton rehabilitation centre Anchorage.
Various rehabilitation programmes and activities are also featured in the images including 'The Journey', a televised 1988 trip for young violent offenders. Notable also is the televised documentary 'Odyssey' which focussed around life at Odyssey House rehabilitation centre.
Featured in many photographs is 'Wayne', an ex-prisoner and promising carver.
