Scope and Contents
Photographs of staff and students of Xavier College on Ferry Road in central Christchurch as well as those of the school buildings.
Those of students includes award winners in the inter-secondary schools debating competition and at the annual prize giving ceremony. Includes students participating in jewellery and metal wire art, students at a social event and of members of the Xavier College Outdoor Club building a lodge in the Lees Valley.
Those of staff include the director of the college Brother Bosco, principal Brother Francis Huckle and attendees at the art teachers' seminar at the college.
Photographs of school buildings include the blessing of St Patrick's Hall as part of the school in 1960; the science block shortly after completion in 1962 and the entrance to the school with views across the playground area in 1988. Also includes architects drawings of proposed redevelopment to the classroom block.
