Scope and Contents

Photographs relating to Louisville world heavyweight champion boxer Muhammad Ali, also know as Cassius Clay. The photographs include various action shots of Ali competing against other renowned boxers for the world title. Ali's wives, Veronica Porsche and Belinda Boyd, and daughter Hannah/Hana? also frequently feature. Several culturally significant images include Ali talking a distraught 21 year old off a ledge in Los Angeles, Ali announcing his boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, Ali in talks with Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev and the Kremlin; and Ali obtaining the release of 16 hostages from Iraq, one of which, Harry Brill-Edwards, is depicted giving his thanks.
