Charles Hawkins Greenstreet papers
Scope and Contents
The papers of Charles Hawkins Greenstreet includes correspondence, original manuscripts, photographs and locks of hair.
One photograph, 1871, is of the grave of Anne Mackie, Eliza's mother, in Gosport, England. The other two photographs, taken in Christchurch, are unlabelled and undated, but are most probably of Charles and Eliza's sons.
There is a letter (probably 1892) from Frances Annie Wachsmann, daughter of Charles and Eliza, to Mary Colborne-Veel, the poet, who was Frances' godmother. Frances died in 1892, aged 30. In an envelope with her letter is a lock of her hair, and a sheet of paper with some Wachsmann family dates. Frances' husband was John Frederick Wachsmann.
Includes a letter, 1860, from Anne Mackie in London to her daughter Eliza Greenstreet, and another, 1879, from Charles Mackie in London, to Eliza.
Also includes a copy of Charles' will, a lock of his hair and of Eliza's hair together, and various other papers.
