Edward Eade shipboard diary
Journal of the ship Canterbury by Edward Eade, the Canterbury Association chaplain, who voyaged to Lyttelton from Gravesend. The journey lasted four months, from 21 June to 20 Oct. 1851. Includes some very detailed entries and accounts of the ship’s school. The diary ends as land is sighted.
Edward Evans papers
The papers of Edward Evans includes photocopies of typescript and manuscripts of a shipboard diary of a voyage from London to Canterbury on board the Zealandia and an official letter from the Provincial Public Works Office, Christchurch, accepting Edward Evans' tender for the erection of a bath house and lavatory at Sunnyside Asylum. The letter is dated 27 Apr. 1876 (or possibly 1875).
Edward Gibbon Wakefield papers
Bound typescript copies of original letters of Edward Gibbon Wakefield to Lord Lyttelton, with two letters from Wakefield to Grey, and Grey's reply, 1850-1854.
Most of these 36 letters were written in England. The letter of 8th. October, 1852, was written from Plymouth, just before Wakefield left for New Zealand. The subsequent letters are from Wellington or Auckland.
