The papers compiled by Fran Clarkson include photocopies of an 1873 letter from Donald Mackay in Scotland? to his son Murdo in Canterbury, sent care of Messrs Rhodes and Wilkins, St. Leonards, Hurunui?
Also inclues a press article about the sailing ship Rangitikei's 1879 voyage to Lyttelton which describes the appointment of Mr. George H. Fuller, one of the passengers, as schoolmaster on the voyage out. It also contains his account of the voyage, and a list of the passengers.

Bound photocopied typescript of Francis Louis Anderson's World War I diary. The illustrations are a page of the author's cartoon sketches at the front of the first volume. This long, detailed diary describes war-time conditions in New Zealand and in England and France very vividly.

Francis Steffano Webb papers early motorcar trial photographs
Photographs by photographer Francis Steffano Webb including eight undated and unlabelled mounted photographs all relating to early motorcar trials. Two in Christchurch at the beginning of early motorcar trials and the rest on the road during trials. One of these photographs is taken on the Akaroa road, but the others have not been identified. All the roads are unsealed. Also includes some related notes and correspondence.
