Hichens family papers

The papers of the Hichens family includes letters written by Fitzroy William Richard Hichens to his sister Mabel on board SS Austral to New Zealand January 1886, during his stay in New Zealand and on his return to England in 1890. Compiled by Denise Le Voir.

Includes biographical notes on Fitzroy William Richard Hichens and transcription of original letters. The CD contains scans of original documents which were scanned October 2009.

Photocopies of press clippings, reviews, obituaries film posters and cast lists relating to films and Christchurch cinemas and two bound volumes of press clippings about the Cinerama Theatre in Christchurch and the films it showed, compiled by Mr Hugh R. Taylor.

Also two bound volumes of newspaper cuttings relating to the introduction of Cinerama and other wide-screen productions, with details of many of the films shown at the time.
