Biography
New Brighton Borough was established in 1897 from the former riding of the Avon Road Board. It amalgamated with Christchurch City Council in 1941.
Rawhiti Domains Board was established under New Brighton Borough Council in 1898. The board was dissolved in 1941 when New Brighton Borough Council amalgamated with Christchurch City Council.

Copper box and fragments of a Christchurch Star newspaper dated 19 November 1934 and Christchurch Press newspaper 14 December 1934. These newspapers were contained within the box as part of a time capsule that was under the New Brighton Clock Tower.
