Biography
The Reserves Department was formed in 1975, renamed from the Parks and Gardens Department. The department managed all the Council owned parks across the Christchurch City Council area including the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The unit was also responsible for leisure facilities and stadiums including Queen Elizabeth II Park and swimming pools.
This became the Parks and Recreation Unit in 1977.
