The Southern Venturer collection
Scrapbook appears to be created by crew of the whaling ship 'F.F. Southern Venturer' over several whaling seasons in the 1950s. The Southern Venturer and its sister ship the Southern Harvester were floating factories for whale hunting. This scrapbook focuses on the period when the use of two Westland Whirlwind helicopters were used for whale spotting. The scrapbook includes various newspaper clippings, photographs, letters, and hand-drawn art.
