The collection of The Christchurch Star includes photographic prints, negatives and newspaper clippings mostly covering local stories including community events, local people, places and sporting events from the 1960s to the 1990s. There is some additional historic material dating from c.1850 which was collected and used by the Star.
The collection is arranged by subject and includes a New Zealand sequence as well as those on Sports, Animals, Personalities and Entertainment.
